League of Legends Design Director, Riot Games
Greg Street, or more commonly known as “Ghostcrawler”, began his career in the game industry as the Lead Game Designer for Ensemble Studios, the studio responsible for the Age of Empire series. He later joined Blizzard Entertainment, where he had significant influence over various design elements for World of Warcraft including classes, items, skills, battle mechanics, and more. During his stay at Blizzard, he contributed to the release of 3 expansion packs, and helped in the development of 2.
In 2013, he joined Riot Games as the Lead Designer and led many of their game designers while also working on the champion design and game balancing. In 2015, he was promoted to Design Director and has been working on assembling long-term strategies for League of Legends in order to accelerate its growth. He also sometimes acts as a representative for Riot Games, delivering information about the direction or progress of development to the public.

From a game designer’s perspective, esports is quite a troublesome area. On top of having to be pleasing for the esports audience to watch, the game designers are also tasked with a mission to balance the game. This in its all is an extremely difficult task to accomplish. Through this presentation, we will finally be able to dive into what standards and proportions Greg Street, Riot Games’ design director, makes when creating a brand new character.
