LONDON, February 15, 2018 - London Spitfire welcomes the newest member of the team with British Hurricane set to represent the organisation in the second season of Overwatch Contenders. Owned by premiere esports organisation Cloud9, British Hurricane will consist of a fully European roster and will take on colours of dark and light blue. Overwatch Contenders is set to begin in March 2018 with each of the 12 city-based franchises in Overwatch League having a team in the highly-anticipated development league.
Like Spitfire, the name Hurricane was chosen as a homage to an iconic British aircraft used by the Royal Air Force. The Hawker Hurricane was introduced in 1937 and played a decisive role in the Battle of Britain as it flew alongside Britain’s other famous World War II warplane, the Supermarine Spitfire.
British Hurricane will have representation from across Europe, with players from the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland. The roster is made of former players from Cloud9 Europe, 123 and Singularity. The full team is as follows:
