SOOP VALORANT League Returns in December with Top Teams Competing for $80,000 Prize Pool

The SOOP VALORANT League (SVL) is set to make a comeback from December 10 to 15, featuring eight elite teams from around the globe competing offline at the Sangam SOOP Colosseum in Seoul. With a prize pool of $80,000 up for grabs, the tournament promises intense action as it closes out Riot Games' official VALORANT OFF//SEASON 2024 circuit.

 

Formerly known as the AfreecaTV VALORANT League (AVL), the rebranded SVL will host a mix of invited teams and qualifiers. Six teams received direct invitations from the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Americas, China, and Pacific leagues, while two additional spots were filled through qualifiers in Thailand and Vietnam.

 

 

Defending champions Sentinels, who claimed victory in the AVL with a decisive 3-0 win, will return to defend their title. Joining them from the VCT Americas is NRG, fresh off a win against Sentinels at the SEN City Classic tournament in Los Angeles.

 

Representing the Pacific region, Gen.G Esports—champions of VCT Pacific Stage 2 and VALORANT Masters Shanghai—will compete alongside fellow South Korean teams DRX and Talon Esports. China's Bilibili Gaming will also participate, while Made in Thailand and Rapid Lofi secured their places through regional qualifiers.

 

 

The tournament format begins with a group stage, where teams are divided into two groups of four in a double-elimination setup. The top two teams from each group will advance to the single-elimination playoffs, culminating in a best-of-five grand final.

 

SOOP, the live streaming platform that launched in June, will exclusively organize, produce, and broadcast the SVL across its official VALORANT channels in five languages: English, Korean, Mandarin, Thai, and Vietnamese (the latter hosted on ONLive). Streamers and content creators are invited to co-stream the event on SOOP, engaging with the community during the off-season competition.

 

The SVL announcement follows SOOP's recent involvement in VALORANT Challengers Southeast Asia 2024: Split 3, where Riot Games appointed the platform as the official partner for tournament operations, production, and exclusive broadcasting. SOOP's expanding role in the VALORANT esports ecosystem underscores its commitment to enhancing the viewing experience for fans worldwide.

 

In addition to hosting tournaments, SOOP has partnered with prominent esports organizations and professional players to offer exclusive live streams. Collaborations include partnerships with League of Legends teams T1, Gen.G, Kwangdong Freecs, and BRION. For VALORANT fans, SOOP has teamed up with South Korean team DRX and T1 player Byung-chul "BuZz" Yu to provide unique interaction opportunities through live streams, "Ask Me Anything" sessions, and online fan meetings.

 

To bridge language barriers, SOOP has introduced an auto-translated subtitle feature that captures streamers' speech and generates real-time translations. Initially supporting English, Mandarin, and Japanese, the feature aims to include more languages in future updates, allowing a broader audience to engage with content regardless of their native language.

 

SOOP continues to develop its platform with features like text-to-speech, screen customization, channel management tools, subscription tiers, and channel drops. Upcoming additions include challenge missions and tournament systems designed to enhance interaction between streamers and their audiences.

 

As the SVL approaches, fans can look forward to a week of high-level VALORANT competition, exclusive content, and innovative features designed to bring the global esports community closer together.
