Riot Games has revealed Astra, the newest agent to join the roster of tactical shooter VALORANT. The agent from Ghana will be the newest addition to the Controller class alongside Brimstone, Omen, and Viper.
Since the first three controllers were available upon VALORANT's launch, Astra marks the first time since launch that a controller has been added to the game's agent pool since its release. The other agents added to the roster before Astra, sans Killjoy the sentinel, have all been duelists.
As her name might suggest, Astra's kit has a cosmic quality to it. The agent requires players to use her Astral Form to leave her body vulnerable to hang stars in the sky. When Cosmic Divide is charged, use your secondary fire in Astral Form to begin aiming it, then your primary fire to select two locations. An infinite teleport-esque tunnel connects the two points you select. Upon hanging said stars in the sky, the rest of Astra's kit can be utilized to activate these stars in a variety of ways.
The Nova Pulse will detonate one of Astra's stars after a brief charge, concussing all players in its area. Nebula can transform a star into smoke, and Dissipate returns a star to Astra's kit to be placed elsewhere, leaving a brief Nebula-like effect behind upon withdrawal.
The key to playing Astra successfully will be utilizing her astral projection-based star abilities to their utmost potential without leaving oneself open to attacks from the enemy. Astra's mortal coil is left vulnerable upon utilizing her Astral Form, so safe positioning for proper set up will be vital for agent #15.
Astra's release date and other details surrounding her joining VALORANT's roster of agents have yet to be revealed by Riot Games. This story will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
