Despite facing numerous obstacles in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, Harrisburg University’s Esports team, the HU Storm, displayed passion and resiliency by winning its second consecutive Collegiate Overwatch National Championship this afternoon.
Global Esports and the Harrisburg University Storm have entered a new partnership. The partnership between the one of the leading programs in collegiate esports and the Indian Overwatch organization, who currently own a Contenders team as well as Team India for the Overwatch World Cup, is unique both in its cross-competitive tier and cross-continental establishment.
Harrisburg University Storm took home the top honor of “Best Collegiate Esports Program” during the Tempest Awards Gala in Las Vegas, NV. The Pennsylvania powerhouse beat out other collegiate esports programs like Maryville University, UC Irvine, UC Berkley and University of Utah.
Alex "Xpecial" Chu will be relocating to Harrisburg, PA to take his coaching role for Harrisburg University to the next level. The former professional esports athlete began coaching the HU Storm League of Legends team remotely in January of 2019.
