Popular Minecraft Youtuber Technoblade has passed away, aged just 23, after lengthy battle with cancer.
Last year, Technoblade revealed his cancer diagnosis to fans, which led the popular Minecraft YouTuber to step away from the spotlight in order to focus on his health as he went through chemotherapy. Now, after a year long battle, the Minecraft community has lost one of the game’s most influential content creators, as Technoblade’s father revealed the news in a final YouTube video titled, “so long nerds”.
The start of the devastating update begins with the content creators dog, Floof, walking into the frame of an all-white backdrop. Technoblade’s father then read a final message that the content creator wrote just a few hour before passing.
The full transcription can be read below:
“Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you are watching this, I am dead. So lets sit down and have one final chat. My real name is Alex. I had one of my siblings call me Dave one time in a deleted video from 2016 and it was one of the most successful pranks we have ever done. Thousands of creepy online dudes trying to get overly personal going ‘oh hey Dave, how’s it going?’ Sorry for selling out so much in the past year, but thanks to everyone who bought hoodies, plushies and channel memberships.
"My siblings are going to college… well if they want to. I don’t want to put any dead brother peer pressure on them. But that’s all from me, thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had another 100 lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time as those were the happiest years of my life. I hope you guys enjoyed my content and that I made some of you laugh. I hope you go on to live happy and prosperous lives because I love you guys! Technoblade out.”
In the message, Technoblade revealed a few tidbits of new information, with the biggest of them all being that his real name is Alex, and that Dave has been an ongoing prank that originated from a deleted video from 2016. The emotional toll the video was taking on his father, who described him as "the most amazing kid anyone could ask for" was obvious throughout, as was the immense pride his family feel for what Techno was able to achieve in his lifetime.
Afterwards, one final message at the end of the YouTube video from Technoblade’s mother is seen where she says, “We, the family of Technoblade, wanted all of you to know just how much he adored and respected his fans and colleagues.”
“Thank you for sharing his journey through it all, as he did the work he loved for his beloved fans,” the final sentence from his mother read. His family requested fans honour Technoblade's wish for anonymity, which he always maintained during his YouTube career, and extend that same courtesy to his relatives as they grieve.
Technoblade was a huge part of the Minecraft community, starring in everything from Minecraft Championships to Minecraft Mondays, and appearing in content with everyone from Dream to TommyInnit and most of the game's biggest stars. His passing has left a huge hole in the community.
