On Feb. 14, Afreeca Freecs claimed the first championship of the PUBG Global Invitational.S Weekly Finals. Afreeca Freecs was the 15th team to qualify for the Weekly Finals as they collected their chicken dinner in the Weekly Survival match. Shoot To Kill, Four Angry men, and Infantry followed in the leaderboard.
Afreeca Freecs had a good start in the finals as they came up on top in the second and third matches. Although they weren’t able to claim any more wins, they collected enough kill points throughout the series to win the first championship. Especially in the last match, Afreeca Freecs collected 13 kills to confirm the first championship of PGI.S.
The total prize money Afreeca Freecs earned in the first week was $47,045. Shoot To Kill collected $31,050, Infantry $23,052, and Soniqs $18,818.
Meanwhile, in the bottom 16 matches, Detonation Gaming White came up on top with 66 points. They will be the first on the waiting list for next week’s Weekly Survival. Digital Athletics ended up last in the bottom 16. They will not be able to participate in the next week's Weekly Survival and will be headed directly to the next week's bottom 16.
Week 2 of PGI.S will continue on Tuesday, again with the Weekly Survival. The prize pool for Week 2 will be doubled of that of Week 1.
