Earlier this week, Blizzard released another Overwatch Developer Update featuring Jeff Kaplan and although the famed game designer confirmed that Overwatch's annual Halloween in-game event, Halloween Terror, would be returning, he was a little light on the specifics.
"It’s always one of my favorite times of the year," said Kaplan. "There’s going to be certain areas [in Overwatch] that look spooky that weren’t spooky previously, and I think you have those to look forward to."
He revealed that more awesome cosmetic content was on the way, including a bride for Junkenstein's monster ("I'll let you speculate about who that might be," he said), and explained that going forward, new game modes and drastic changes to existing game modes should not be expected for all seasonal events.
What he did not reveal, however, were start and end dates for the Halloween Terror and Winter Wonderland events. But Kellogg might have.
Now through the end of 2018, Overwatch players can receive Golden loot boxes by purchasing select Kellogg's products (including Pop-Tarts and Pringles), and on the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page Kellogg provides regarding the promotion, start and end dates for Overwatch's Halloween and Winter events are listed:
The dates (Oct. 10th through Oct. 31st for Halloween Terror and Dec. 12th through Dec. 31st for Winter Wonderland) are congruent with past events. Halloween Terror, for example, began on Oct. 11th in 2016 and Oct. 10th in 2017, and ended on Nov. 1st both years, so Kellogg's listed event dates would not be out of the norm. Blizzard also has a history of extending seasonal events past their initially reported end dates and times.
Cheers, Overwatch cosmetics collectors -- we are a mere fifteen days away from one of the best times of the year!
