Eduardo "dudu" Macedo is the DPS for Brasil Gaming House and Team Brazil. With the World Cup behind him, I got his thoughts about his experience. Given that he's a projectile DPS specialist who played a fair amount of Brigitte at the World Cup, I also wanted to know how he felt about the current meta.
Did your team have any time to explore Los Angeles?
We basically had the day we flew into the US to go around and do stuff. It was pretty fun, we walked around a bit and did some shopping.
You were also in Team Brazil for 2017. Does this year feel the same as last year? Or does it feel different?
It definitely felt different, we were more relaxed and realistic as to what we could achieve this year, and I think that's what made the difference in our performance.
5/7 of Team Brazil was BGH, but two are from Black Dragons. Both Wetter and ole were played in WC matches. What was your team's experience with them like?
It was fantastic, they brought a fresh mentality to the team and made it really easy for us to adapt to playing with them and I like to think that we helped them a lot, too.
When we first talked, you were confident your team would have a solid performance. How do you feel now about it now after the World Cup?
Going into the group stage, we were definitely considered the underdogs since there were 3 European and 2 North American teams. However, we were still confident we would do well. We went to the World Cup with a goal: to beat the Europeans and to have a solid game against USA and Canada, and we accomplished that goal. I'm pretty happy with our performance this year, I think it was actually even better than we expected since we almost took a map off of Canada, and did take a map off USA.
Winston's 50 damage jump pack bug was active on the World Cup patch. Did it have any impact on your matches?
I don't really remember if it had any serious impact, but it is definitely a game-changing bug and in my opinion, it should've been fixed since for the World Cup because it was a well known bug at the time.
What are your thoughts on Hydration? Is he a fair representation of Brazilian players?
Hydration has been a topic of discussion in the Brazilian community for a while now. He's never played on a Brazilian team, so he's not really involved with our scene's growth. And I believe he doesn't speak Portuguese very well, so in my opinion, it would be wrong to call him "a representative of the Brazilian players" simply because his reality is very different than ours. He seems like a good guy, though.
How do you feel about Brigitte's new Shield Bash update?
I think the Brigitte changes were pretty minimal. Her kit is still way too strong, so she will probably stay in the meta for some time.
Aside from Brigitte, you played a variety of hitscan heroes (Soldier:76, Widowmaker, Tracer and McCree) at the World Cup. How do they fit in the current meta?
I think most hitscans are in a weird spot right now because if you are good with them, you can probably get away with playing it for most of the time. But I wouldn't say they are in the "meta" simply because GOATS and Sombra/Doomfist are really strong.
Would you say that Sombra and Doomfist are overpowered?
Yes, I think Doomfist is probably the most unfun hero at the game alongside Brigitte and Sombra simply because it's not balanced.
What future plans do you and your team have?
We simply don't know yet, we are looking into our options but we hope to keep getting better and bigger in the international scene!
