8 heroic Reinhardts that show the strength of justice and honor

Reinhardt is a foundation, a cornerstone, a solid rock unmoving in his place on the roster. Even during his lowest points, when bugged hitboxes left him broken and forgotten, he still managed to be a staple for all tank players. This one goes out to those tank players: the defenders choke points, the mobile shields, and CC machines. They might not be as flashy as other heroes, but they get the job done and then some.

When all you have is a hammer, everyone else is a nail.

1. Reinhardt breaks up a violent gang fight, gets carried away.

The McCrees and the Reapers are at each other’s throats once again, and Reinhardt is honor-bound to break up the fight. He may have been a little overzealous though since he completely smashed them against a concrete wall. Oh well, gotta break a few bones to make an omelet. Or something.

2. A cornered animal is dangerous, especially if they have a rocket hammer.

For most of Overwatch’s roster, having them cornered seems like a great tactic. For Reinhardt on the other hand, you can’t exactly get behind him in that situation. So now you’re stuck in a room with a rocket-propelled German and any weakness he has is null and void. Good luck with that.

3. If it works it’s bravery, if it doesn’t it’s stupidity.

Yeah, it works. I’d love to know exactly how that D.Va was feeling. Sad? Impressed? Angry? Ok probably complete confusion or indifference but it’s fun to speculate. I think this clip more than any others encapsulate Reinhardt. Willing to blindly charge himself into a terrible situation to save his team. Truly a hero.

4. Reinhardt channels the power of Mr. Miyagi.

Even without the ending to me this clip is great. It opens with the classic Rein versus Rein mistake of Earthshattering the shield, something I’m all too guilty of doing. And the punishment is instant, with the front liners melting almost immediately. In an incredible act of knowing the enemy’s moves, our Reinhardt charges Mercy directly out of her flight halting any hopes the other team had of revitalizing that push.

5. You cannot run from justice.

There’s a little bit of everything here: a hilariously excessive Nano Boost, a mathematically improbable Earthshatter, and a scared Hanzo being crushed into paste. Of all the places to run from a Reinhardt, a dead-end hallway might just be the worst. His suffering was our entertainment though, so hats of to you Hanzo!

6. Doomfist is brought to heel.

I wouldn’t call Doomfist the most annoying character, but it is still very satisfying to see him get a taste of his own medicine. Not to mention how badly I’d like for this to be canon. Could you imagine seeing a cinematic where Doomfist is wrecking face, uses his ult, and is immediately shoulder checked by an angry Reinhardt? That’s the Overwatch I want to see, Blizzard.

7. & 8. For greater glory, sacrifices must always be made.

I will never get tired of seeing clips where Reinhardt charges people off a cliff. It just epitomizes him so well. Willingly to completely sacrifice himself and his beloved kill streak just to stagger death timers, and look flashy doing it. To all you overzealous Reinhardt mains, I salute you. Keep making the world a more chivalrous place.
