Meta Athena secured their spot in Winner's match as the team won 3-1 against Afreeca Freecs Blue in Group B Quarterfinals. Creativity kept rolling among the players of Meta Athena as they made new flank routes with Mei's Ice Wall, and the beautifully coordinated Graviton Surge and Dragonstrike has proven just how well the team is coordinated. Meta Athena recorded the team's 20 win streak today and advanced to Winners' Match, while Afreeca Blue stepped down to Losers' Match.

Below is the walkthrough of today's matchup in between Meta Athena and Afreeca Freecs Blue.

Set 1 KotH: Ilios 

The match kicked off in Ilios, and Meta Athena went for a dive comp in the first round which AF Blue seemed to have found quite easy to deal with. Hoon, famous for his continuous use of Graviton Surge, did not show as frequent use of Graviton in Ilios. Afreeca Blue stood off strong against Meta Athena, but ArHaN had many moments in which he unsheathed his Dragonblade at unfavorable timing without getting much benefit. After each team won a round, the third round saw ArHaN finally doing something with his Dragonblade as he picked up multiple kills. After that, Hoon's Graviton Surge came in with Sayaplayer's Pulse Bomb sprinkled on top, which also scored multiple on Meta Athena's side. This allowed Meta Athena to finally capture the point for the first time in the round, but AF Blue took the point right away as the team shifted the fight away from the control point while at the same time Recry sneaked in with his Tracer to kill Kris and NUS that were returning to the control point. He regained control of the point, and AF Blue won Set 1 Ilios.

Set 2 Hybrid: Eichenwalde

Set 2 began in Eichenwalde with Meta Athena on the offense, and the team showed the clever strategy of group-flank as they attacked AF Blue from the behind thanks to Libero's Mei wall. The flank worked well as it forced AF Blue to fight in the small space, and Meta Athena took Point A rather easily. It took a while for Meta Athena to move the payload, however, as AF Blue held them back quite successfully during the first couple of attempts. However, Meta Athena created another flank route with Ice Wall and pushed AF Blue away from the second floor castle that they were camping at. The push continued after that, and Meta Athena reached point A quite smoothly. The fight inside the castle saw Changsik's Earthshatter make a huge drop on multiple players of AF Blue, making a significant push forward that was halted with only 0.9 meters remaining to the last point. AF Blue managed to push the payload back a little, but Meta Athena made a comeback as they all jumped in and won the huge drop of teamfight. Meta Athena pushed the payload all the way with about 2 minutes remaining in the time bank.

AF Blue began its attack with Recry sneaking in with his Pharah, but Meta Athena chose to fight within the control point zone while Libero's Sombra hacked the health packs around the point and pulled a solid defense with hacks and EMP. However, AF Blue managed to take control of the point without using as much of their ults, which revealed the major weakness in Meta Athena's strategy: that one loss leads right to loss of the control point. ArHaN continuously picked up kills and went aggressive as AF Blue pushed the payload, and then wasted another Dragonblade that did not find much use. They got really close to the gate and the fight continued right in front of the castle' gate, and Hoon's Self-Destruct that picked up two kills halted AF Blue right in front of Eichenwalde's first payload point. AF Blue managed to come back and carry on the game up until Overtime, but Meta Athena easily shooed them away, winning the set and scoring 1-1.

Set 3 KotH: Temple of Anubis

Afeeca Blue took hold of the Point A rather quickly, while Meta Athena seemed to have tough time holding the point. Meta Athena did not pull a solid teamfight up against AF Blue, but continuously contested the tick in Point B as Kris kept climbing the wall higher and higher in the point as Lúcio. He continuously earned time for ally Winston and D.Va to step in and continue the contest that gave AF Blue a very hard time in building the ticks. Meta Athena did manage to drain time off AF Blue's time bank, but let AF Blue take the point with around 2 minutes remaining in the time bank.

Sayaplayer's Widowmaker opened way for Meta Athena as the team began the attack. Sayaplayer knocked down AMON's Ana right away and continued to pump damage while the rest of the team stepped inside. Meta Athena sweeped through the door to capture Point A, so fast that they did so before any player could have his ult. Meta Athena continued the aggressive push powered by Libero's Genji. Another long contest at point B followed but Meta Athena managed to take the point, despite AF Blue's continuous attempt to keep them away, with about 3 minutes remaining in the time bank.

Set 4 Escort: Dorado

AF Blue seemed to show just how strong they were in Dorado, as the team smoothly pushed the payload to the first checkpoint. The team continued its successful push dropping multiple ults, while Meta Athena struggled to connect their ults and make effective use out of them. AF Blue's aggressive push continued even after the payload went past the second checkpoint and stepped inside the building. Mano aggressively opened the way as Reinhardt, and AF Blue seemed to make a full push rather easily with Mano going all the way in to scare Meta Athena off but still not going down. However, Meta Athena managed to make a comeback as ChangSik's Earthshatter dropped on Hoon's Graviton, picking up 4 kills and forcing AF Blue to retreat. AF Blue struck back after swapping to the different team composition. With Recry on Hanzo and ArHaN on Roadhog, the team made a huge leap forward again and nearly pushed the payload all the way. However, Meta Athena continued to hold the payload off by contesting it one by one. AF Blue was finally able to land the Graviton + Dragonstrike combo to sweep Meta Athena, going into Overtime but managing to score all three points.

The offense by Meta Athena saw Libero's Hanzo steadily pumping the damage output while at the same time making good use of the Sonic Arrow to help his teammates. Meta Athena reached the first checkpoint rather easily. Meta Athena's push became even stronger as Hoon and Libero started to pick up multiple kills with Graviton Surge and Dragonstrike. Although half of AF Blue managed to escape the combo that was initiated by Hoon's Graviton sticking to the first floor's ceiling with Hanzo's dragon flying through, it was enough to make AF Blue retreat from the zone and advance the payload to the second checkpoint. Libero stood as Hanzo all the way to the end, landing another beautifully coordinated Graviton + Dragonstrike combo at the choke point in front of the third checkpoint. Sayaplayer's two kills with Deadeye followed, and Meta pushed the payload all the way without ample time remaining in the time bank.

Additional rounds followed due to both teams having made it to the last checkpoint. While AF Blue was unable to even make it to the first checkpoint due to them having no remaining time in the time bank, Meta Athena easily pushed the payload past the spot where AF Blue made their last push. Sayaplayer's Widowmaker and Libero's Hanzo dismantled AF Blue one by one, and Meta Athena took away a rather easy win in the last round, winning the game 3-1 and advancing to Winner's Match.
