Overwatch League franchise Vancouver Titans will be returning to the Pacific Division next week, but the team will be out two familiar faces. Tank player Choi "JJANU" Hyun-woo and Head Hwang "paJion" Ji-sub have agreed to mutually part ways with the team. The news of both separations was shared via the Vancouver Titans' Twitter.
Both JJANU and paJion joined Vancouver Titans ahead of season 2 of the Overwatch League in December 2018. In its inaugural season of OWL, Titans finished 1st place in the regular season with a staggering 25-3 record. Vancouver Titans also won the Stage 1 Playoffs, and made it to the Stage 2 and Stage 3 Finals. In the post-season, the Titans reached the 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals on the top side of the bracket, but was swept out of the championship by San Francisco Shock.
Vancouver Titans were gracious in both of their announcements, which were tweeted as follows:
"The Vancouver Titans announce today that HyunWoo "JJANU" Choi has agreed to mutually part ways with the team. From all of us at the Vancouver Titans organization, thank you JJANU for everything you have done for the team."
"We’ve made the difficult decision today to mutually part ways with head coach Hwang ‘PaJion’ Jisub. Hwang helped us grow into a championship-caliber team in a short period of time and we are grateful for the contributions he has made to our organization. We wish him all the best."
Vancouver Titans has been unusually quiet since its reservations due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, which has many members of the community and those close to the competitive Overwatch scene skeptical as to whether these will be the last of the separations the franchise will announce.
This article will continue to be updated with new Vancouver Titans roster announcements should any be made public by the team.
