Riot Games and Virgin Music Group Unveil New Version of “What Have They Done to Us” Featuring Sasha Alex Sloan

Riot Games and Virgin Music Group have released a new version of What Have They Done to Us, featuring indie-pop artist Sasha Alex Sloan. The song, originally performed by Mako and Grey for Arcane League of Legends: Season 2 (Soundtrack From The Animated Series), has been reimagined with a more atmospheric and intimate sound.

This new rendition will be part of a deluxe edition of the Arcane Season 2 soundtrack, set for release in spring 2025. The expanded album will include additional remixes and collaborations, further building on the success of the original soundtrack.

Since its release on November 22, 2024, the Arcane Season 2 soundtrack has accumulated over 1.1 billion global streams and debuted at No. 26 on the Top 200 Albums chart. It currently ranks No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 Soundtracks chart, surpassing multiple high-profile releases. The original version of What Have They Done to Us has been one of the album’s most streamed songs, with over 17 million global plays.

The track was featured in a key moment of Arcane Season 2, adding depth to the series’ emotional storytelling. The show itself has remained a top performer on Netflix, reaching No. 1 globally and appearing in the platform’s Top 10 English TV shows in 91 countries. Across its two seasons, Arcane has spent a total of 15 weeks in Netflix’s global Top 10.

Developed by Riot Games and Fortiche Production, Arcane is based on the League of Legends universe and has been widely recognized for its animation and narrative quality. The upcoming deluxe edition of the soundtrack is expected to offer new interpretations of its most popular tracks, with more details to be revealed in the coming months.
