Just like in Group B on Day 6 of Worlds, two teams were eliminated after the second game of the day, with the other two qualifying for the knockout stage. Check out the final qualifications here:
After finishing 4-2 in Group C of the 2020 League of Legends World Championship, Fnatic has qualified for the knockout stage for its fourth Worlds in a row. Fnatic has only missed Worlds in 2012 and 2016, and since its last four qualifications starting in 2017 has only lost 2 of its last 15 games in week 2 the World Championship group stage.
In a post-match interview with Inven Global's Lara Lunardi, Fnatic's Jungler Oskar "Selfmade" Boderek talked about the current jungle meta, his first Worlds experience, and more.
The seventh day of the 2020 League of Legends World Championship Group stage has brought us laughter, sadness, but mostly, really great memes. Find them all here and let us know what we missed:
TSM has been eliminated from Group C at the 2020 League of Legends World Championship. The #1 seed from the League of Legends Championship Series failed to win a game against Fnatic, Gen.G and LGD in the first round robin of the group, and after falling to 0-4 in a second loss to Fnatic, TSM was mathematically eliminated from moving on to the knockout stage.
Group B is now decided, sending DWG and JDG onward. Rogue had a promising start to their Worlds run but came up short in the second round-robin. Read what jungler Inspired has to say about their experience here:
UPDATE 10/9: With PSG Talon securing their first win of the group stage over JD Gaming, DAMWON Gaming has locked in first seed heading to the knockout phase, and JDG secure second. JDG's loss puts them at 3-2, so they can no longer tie DWG who sit at 5-0. The two still have their rematch as the last game of the group stage remaining.
Senna support will probably not be seen again, and rightfully so, but the methodology behind the pick was sound in context, and any questioning of G2's competitive integrity on the Worlds stage in favor of sabotaging Team Liquid is an immature conflation of the reasoning behind the result at best and a baseless accusation at worst.
While the win took longer than expected given the starting pace, Suning's win secured the 1st seed in Group A heading into the knockout stage. G2 Esports will enter the knockout stage as the 2nd seed. Team Liquid and Machi Esports were eliminated, finishing in 3rd and 4th, respectively.
Let's take a look at three players at Worlds 2020 who have exceeded our expectations throughout the first half of the group stage.
After the first round-robin of the Worlds Group Stage, TSMS sits at 0-3. in the weakest group as the NA first seed. Their problems are glaring - from draft to in-game decision making. And frankly, they look like a shell of their former NA title-winning team. Here's what's going wrong and what they need to fix if they're going to turn it around and make it to the knockout stage.
After the first set of games in the World Championship group stage, Group D ended with a clear tier list of its teams. Read more about the Group D standings in the first round robin here:
