On February 5th (KST), SKT T1 swept MVP 2-0 in Day 10 of 2017 LCK Spring Split held at NEXON Arena, Seoul. From laning to teamfight prowess, Junsik “Bang” Bae was an integral part of the team’s victory.

Below is the post-match interview with Bang.

SKT is in the first place by itself. How are you feeling?

I think there are many moving parts and things to tweak since it’s still a new season.

Why did you choose to not ban LeBlanc-Rengar-Camille in Game 2?

I have faith in my coach’s insight that we have a comparative advantage for each opponent in not banning those champions. They take into account of every variable up until the fourth and fifth bans.

How does Syndra fare against Malzahar?

I wouldn’t say Syndra’s the optimal pick. She’s probably a Plan B choice against Malzahar if Zyra is banned.

How did the team react when things started to go sour in Game 2?

We reminded ourselves to take a step back and to give our best. We were unfazed.

Do you agree with Deft who said ADC has less trouble in a coordinated team than in Solo Queue?

I feel the same way for the most part. When people say ADC has less importance in Solo Queue, they mean that the disparity between ADCs has less overall influence than other lanes’. I think ADC has trouble covering for other lanes’ deficits.

How do you feel about the next matchup against Afreeca and Marin?

I look forward to meeting Marin in the Rift. I’ve played with him for over two years, and it’ll be interesting to play against him.

How will you prepare against Pray and Deft in the upcoming matches?

Those two are definitely solid players, but I don’t prepare anything special specifically against them. What matters is that if I can bring my A game. It’s crucial to not make mistakes. As long as I’m on the top of my games, which player I face probably doesn’t matter as much.

Do you have a message to the new members of the team?

My new teammates are quite young. It’s the first time that I’m the oldest of the bunch. I started my career when I was 17 years old, and it’s telling that I’m now the oldest player on the team.

Is that why you're working on that mustache?

No, not exactly. [laughs] I needed some change to myself. Living the same life… I sometimes fall into bad habits. [laughs] Maybe it’s a fun little quirk, and I’ve wanted to grow one.

Some fans wish you’d shave it off.

My fans mean a lot to me, but my choices in life matter as well. I’m sad to say that fans probably won’t change my mind about the mustache. [laughs]

Have you thought about bleaching your hair like Peanut?

Actually, my mother is a hair stylist. I’ve never went to another hair saloon in my life. I’ve always followed her advice when it came to my hair.

Any last words you’d like to say?

I’m grateful to the fans who always cheer us on. As always, we’ll do our best to keep up the good work. I hope you can also say encouraging words to the new members of the team.
