Opengame Foundation Launches ‘Adventure’ Mainnet to Power CROSS Blockchain for Gaming

Opengame Foundation (OGF) announced on April 23 the launch of Adventure, the inaugural mainnet of CROSS, an independent blockchain network specifically designed for gaming. The rollout marks the official start of the CROSS ecosystem, which seeks to offer a standardized platform for global game developers and players. The network provides a protocol and a software development kit that enables developers to issue tokens on-chain and integrate blockchain features without facing typical technical or legal hurdles.

With the CROSS software development kit, game studios can embed token functionality directly within their titles, while players can store assets such as characters, items and tokens in the CROSSx wallet. Once stored, these assets can be traded freely on-chain, giving users true ownership and control over digital goods. The mainnet is fully compatible with Ethereum standards and closely linked to the BNB Chain, leveraging its fast block times and low fees to boost scalability and liquidity across the network. By aligning with Ethereum’s ongoing developments, OGF aims to maintain stability and keep pace with advances in blockchain technology.

The first title to go live on the network is Ragnarok: Monster World, which debuted April 24 using a modified subscription model instead of traditional free-to-play mechanics. All in-game economic activity, including asset transfers and trades, operates through the CROSS protocol, creating a decentralized economy that returns generated value directly to users via peer-to-peer transactions. This approach is expected to enhance player retention and drive more sustainable revenue streams for developers.

OGF has entered a technical partnership with NEXUS, a blockchain game platform operator, to support the network’s development and onboarding of titles. Adventure is the opening entry in a planned alphabet-based versioning strategy, with subsequent upgrades to be delivered under versions B, C, D and beyond. The foundation plans to expand its toolkit and resources to encourage both independent studios and major developers to adopt the network.
