League of Legends is set to launch its second season of 2025 this summer, returning players to the Spirit Blossom theme now reimagined as Spirit Blossom Beyond. The update shifts the seasonal setting to Ionia, building on the success of the previous season’s Noxus-themed content. Alongside the thematic refresh, the season delivers gameplay adjustments, visual enhancements, new modes, champion updates, and expanded cosmetic offerings.

In one of the key gameplay overhauls, several neutral objectives have been reworked. The dual forms of Atakhan have been consolidated into a single entity known as Thornbound Atakhan. In this new form, the in-game rewards system will provide teams with accumulated map-wide benefits, while the conversion of Bloody Petals into Spirit Petals delivers stronger in-game effects. Other modifications include a later, limited spawning of Void Grubs and an earlier, more accessible Rift Herald that no longer features the previously imposed debuff. The bounty system has also been retuned so that the team trailing in the match can access additional rewards. In the champion selection phase, junglers will exclusively receive Smite, and supports will benefit from an automatic item allocation once the match begins.

Summoner’s Rift will undergo a visual update inspired by Ionian aesthetics, enhancing the overall Spirit Blossom experience. Additionally, changes have been implemented to address behavior issues, with improvements to the detection systems for unsportsmanlike conduct and griefing. A new champion, Yunara, is set to debut later this season, as is an in-client metagame designed to further engage the community.

The seasonal rollout includes a new game mode called Brawl, which brings fast-paced, team-based combat on a unique map set in Bandle City. Emphasizing direct champion clashes over traditional objectives, Brawl aims to provide a brisk alternative to the classic gameplay on Summoner’s Rift. The season will also see the return of several Spirit Blossom skins and new standalone cosmetic collections designed to reflect Ionian folklore.
