The inaugural ALGS Open is set to begin at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from May 1-4, 2025, marking what is expected to be the largest LAN tournament in Apex Legends history. The four-day event will host 160 teams from across the globe, competing for a share of USD $1 million in prizing.
The tournament serves as a key milestone for the Apex Legends™ Global Series, building on the momentum established by the ALGS Year 4 Championship in Sapporo. Electronic Arts has expanded participation by inviting all 120 teams from the ALGS Pro League, along with 40 teams that secured their spots through the Preseason Qualifiers, which concluded on March 17. This broadened roster is designed to intensify the competitive field and provide emerging talent with a larger stage.
In a statement, Monica Dinsmore, Head of Esports at Electronic Arts, conveyed that the decision to host the event in New Orleans was driven by both the previous success in Sapporo and the recent energetic atmosphere witnessed during the Madden Bowl. She indicated that the city's dynamic vibe and storied reputation in hosting large-scale events made it the ideal location for launching the series' biggest LAN competition to date.
New Orleans is known for its vibrant music scene, exceptional cuisine, and deep cultural roots. The city’s unique charm is expected to enhance the tournament experience, offering fans more than just high-stakes esports action. Attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in both competitive gaming and the local cultural scene.
As players gear up for the battle to win the inaugural ALGS Open title, the event promises to set a new standard in the esports arena, reflecting the evolving landscape of competitive Apex Legends.
