Riot Korea announced that the 2023 LCK Spring Split will begin on Jan. 18, 2023, starting with DWG KIA vs. DRX and Gen.G vs. T1. The season will last until Mar. 19, for two months. There will be matches from Wednesday through Sunday. Each team will play 18 matches — there will be a total of 90 matches over the season.
Entering 2023, there have been a few changes to the league. The first change is the game time. The first match of the day starts at the same time, but the second match will now begin at 7:30 PM (KST). On weekends, they will begin at 3 PM and 5:30 PM.
There will also be special featured matchups on Saturdays: Saturday Showdown. These matches have been decided according to the previous split rankings, rivalries, stove league stories, etc. All ten LCK teams will play in at least one Saturday Showdown through the season.
Another big change is the double-elimination format in the playoffs. Like before, there will be six teams participating in the playoffs, but starting from the last four, they will play in a double-elimination format. The top two teams will head straight to the second round of the playoffs, while 3rd-6th teams will face off in a single-elimination tournament first.
The 1st place team will select their opponent, and the 2nd place team will face the remaining team. The winners will move onto the winners' bracket and the losers to the losers’ bracket. The winner of the winners’ bracket will head straight to the finals, and the loser will face the winner of the losers’ bracket in the losers’ finals. The day after the losers’ finals will be the grand finals, which will be held on Apr. 9.
The following is the full schedule of the 2023 LCK Spring Split.
