In the second quarterfinals match between old rivals, T1 and RNG, T1 took a 3-0 victory and moved on to the semifinals of Worlds 2022. One interesting fact about this win was that this was the first time since the Worlds 2020 finals that an LCK team beat an LPL team in a Best of 5 series.

The following is Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong’s post-match interview with Jeesun Park.

After the Worlds 2020 finals, LCK finally managed to beat the LPL in a Bo5. How do you feel to be the one to do so?

I’m happy to take the 3-0 victory today, and was reminded that Bo5s are physically taxing.

It was a rematch of the MSI finals. Was that in your mind while you were playing?

It’s been a while since then, so I think the performance level on both teams have changed. I didn’t think of it as playing the same team since then, but I’m still happy that it’s technically considered a revenge victory.

You had zero deaths in most of your matches. Were you actively trying to not die to keep the no-death streak going?

I didn’t die once in game 1 and 2, so I thought I’d love to do the same in game 3. Unfortunately, I died twice, so it’s a bit disappointing.

Many said in unison that T1 thoroughly prepared for today’s Bo5, with picks like Ashe-Heimerdinger on the blue side in game 1. What was the most important factor in facing GALA-Ming?

We practiced and tested a lot of bot lane matchups. There’s not a single bot lane duo that can keep up with our champion pool, so variety was the key point in our matchup today.

Game 2 was a tough one, with T1 pulling the miraculous comeback by winning the Elder drake teamfight. Did you feel the pressure to carry on late-game Xayah?

I was ahead through farming a lot, but seeing Kai’Sa catch up to my CS made me doubt a little bit. However, it wasn’t hard for Xayah to deal damage in teamfights against RNG’s comp, and I also had Renata, so in terms of difficulty level, it wasn’t that high.

You looked very relieved after you won that match. Do you remember how you felt then?

I got this feeling in the mid-game that the game was winnable, so I got nervous, excited, and had shaky hands all at the same time. We won in the end, so all those bottled up emotions were let out.

In game 3, not only have you showcased great mechanics to dodge skillshots, you also proved that you have a very wide champion pool. How do you rate your own performance?

I don’t think I played Ashe that well in game 1, but I think I did alright in the other two games. I’ll give myself an 80 [out of 100].

T1 will be facing JDG in the semifinals. It’s an LCK vs LPL matchup once again. How do you foresee the matchup?

In interviews and in voice comms, JDG kept saying that they didn’t want to face us. I’ll make sure to prove why they fear us. We’ll make sure to prepare well to win that match and head to the finals.
