Counter Logic Gaming have announced a roster change ahead of the 2022 LCS Summer Split. Top laner Niship "Dhokla" Doshi has been promoted to the LCS as CLG's starting top laner, while Thomas "Jenkins" Tran will be switching places with him and starting in the LCS Academy League.
Sans one game where CLG Academy played for CLG at the end of the 2022 LCS Spring Split, this is the first time Dhokla has held a starting position in the LCS since his stint with OpTic Gaming. Dhokla began his career at the beginning of 2018 on OpTic Gaming Academy and was the team's starting top laner in the 2018 LCS Summer Split and the entirety of the 2019 LCS season. Since then, Dhokla played for TSM Academy in 2020 before joining amateur powerhouse Solafide Esports in 2021.
When Solafide ceased all operations due to an inability to pay their team before the start of the 2021 LCS Spring Proving Grounds, Dhokla spent a month on Wildcard Gaming Red before being picked up by Team Liquid Academy when Jenkins was promoted to Team Liquid's LCS squad following the benching of Barney "Alphari" Morris. Dhokla and Jenkins both went to CLG at the end of the 2021 season.
"We were watching Dhokla play in Academy and he gained a ton of confidence playing in Academy," Counter Logic Gaming head coach Thomas "Thinkcard" Slotkin said in a video clip from CLG's upcoming 'State of the Union' regarding their roster changes. He worked on a lot of his bad habits and he's just in a really good spot to show what he can do at the LCS level again."
Jenkins experienced a sophomore slump in his first full LCS split this spring, while Dhokla won the MVP award in the 2022 LCS Academy League Spring Split.
