Gen.G faced off against DWG KIA on day 36, match 2 of the 2022 LCK Spring split. Even with their starting mid laner, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, being out of commission due to COVID, Gen.G was still able to beat DWG KIA 2-1.
Gen.G’s support player, Son “Lehends” Si-woo, joined Inven for a post-match interview. He stated, “We actually weren’t able to get a lot of preparation work into tonight’s match, but I’m glad that my team and I were able to take the win tonight. Ruler was also in poor physical condition, so I’m especially grateful that he played so well tonight.”
The match itself was very neck to neck. Gen.G took game 1, but DWG KIA brought it right back in game 2, with game 3 being very close until the end. Lehends shared, “After game 2 ended, Score told us that our team composition was a very tough one to execute. However, I think game 2 got tough because I made too many mistakes. I told the team that there were a lot of things I could’ve done better.”
DWG KIA's jungler, Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, picked Nidalee in game 3 of the series, and was one of the main reasons why the series stayed very close until the end. Lehends also shared his thoughts about game 3, stating, “Whenever we got hit by her javelins, Peanut kept telling us, “Hey, it’s okay!” with a smile on his face. I didn’t know what he was talking about, since I didn’t get hit by a lot of them. Ophelia tanked the javelins for me [laughter].”
In this series, Lehends showcased the newest champion in League of Legends, Renata Glasc. On the pick, he told Inven that he had a lot of practice on her in solo queue, and stated, “She’s definitely viable in certain situations. I felt that BeryL would be the first player to pick her in the LCK, so it was cool to see both him and I pick her tonight [BeryL picked Renata Glasc in match 1 of the day]. I respect his 'think outside the box' mindset.”
Lastly, Lehends gave a shout out to his fans by saying, “I know that the fans are concerned about us, but we’re going to win our next three matches as well. Chovy will be returning to our lineup in our next match, so we’ll showcase a great performance for all your support. Thank you.”
