UPDATE Nov. 15: DRX has parted ways with coach Kim "SSONG" Sang-soo and Lee "Bory" Sung-yoon. SSONG filled in for DRX as the interim head coach during cvMax's suspension during the 2021 spring season, and contributed to DRX reaching the playoffs. After cvMax returned, SSONG stepped down to be a regular coach. Bory served DRX as the Challengers coach and Academy coach since 2020.
On September 18, DRX announced that they will be parting ways with their head coach Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho. In their tweet, they said, “Today, we announce the departure of Head Coach Kim 'cvMax' Dae Ho by mutual agreement. We sincerely thank you for your hard work and service for the last two years. We wish you nothing but the best in your future.”
CvMax started his coaching career in Griffin and led the team to three straight runner-up finishes in the LCK with a team full of rookies. He joined DRX in 2020 and finished 3rd in the spring, and 2nd in the summer, leading the team to the quarterfinals of the 2020 World Championship. However, due to a five-month suspension, cvMax wasn’t able to lead the team at the beginning of the year, and he ended the summer split in last place with a 2-16 record.
Along with cvMax, DRX also announced that coach Park "dongHo" Dong-ho and top laner Yoon "Destroy" Jeong-min will be leaving the team as well.
