In the 2021 LCK Summer Split match on August 5, DWG KIA and Liiv SANDBOX swept Fredit BRION and Hanwha Life Esports, respectively. With the win, both teams collected their 10th win of the season, and Liiv SANDBOX locked in a spot in the playoffs.
The first game was between DWG KIA and Fredit BRION. In the first game, DWG KIA played aggressive macro with Gangplank, Ryze, and Lee Sin, diving the bot lane from early in the game. There were a few teamfight wins Fredit BRION pulled off, DWG KIA’s macro didn’t allow a turnaround.
In the second game, DWG KIA had a big win in the mid-jungle skirmishes. Heo “ShowMaker” Su and Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu’s Syndra and Lee Sin collected kills whenever there were fights which also affected the sidelanes. ShowMaker’s Syndra continued to show a great performance in later objective fights and DWG KIA took the win.
Liiv SANDBOX had to win just one more game to lock in a spot in the playoffs, and they managed to do it. The first game was all Kim “Croco” Dong-beom. He scaled well from the early game and the later teamfights evolved around his Diana. Without much trouble, Liiv SANDBOX took the first game.
In the second game as well, Liiv SANDBOX led Hanwha Life Esports in the Rift. Lee “Effort” Sang-ho’s Leona roamed actively to make kills. It seemed that Hanwha Life Esports had good fights around the Baron pit, but it wasn’t enough. As Liiv SANDBOX kept winning around the Dragon pit, they took the 2-0 win and locked in a slot in the playoffs.
