SKT T1 Huni: "Playing Rumble is as easy as pie for me"

On March 15th (KST), SK Telecom T1 defeated Afreeca Freecs 2-1 in the first matchup of Day 32 LCK Spring Split 2017, paying back for their only loss of the season against AFs.

The key to SKT's victory was Seunghoon "Huni" Heo setting AFs ablaze with Rumble in Game 1 and 3 with staggering amount of damage and the threat of 'The Equalizer'.

Here is our interview with Seunghoon "Huni" Heo.

Congratulations on your payback today. How are you feeling right now?

It is a meaningful victory for me. I wasn't doing so well, got subbed out a few times in the middle of a match and even got benched out for the team's last match. So, I'm glad that I was able to overcome the slump and win today. As for the team, I'm relieved that we were able to have our revenge after our previous loss against AFs. However, we still lost a set, so I promise that we'll defeat them without losing a set if we face them again in the playoffs.

It looked like SKT T1 valued Rumble very highly. Is Rumble that strong?

Rumble is basically unstoppable in the current metagame. It is the best champion among the toplaners that can act as a hard carry. At the same time, it is a difficult champion to play with, and you have to be smart to play it well. However, playing Rumble is as easy as pie for me since I've been playing it for three years already. kkOma, our coach, believed that in me, and I was confident that I'd do well.

How do you feel about your own performance today?

I'm not completely satisfied even with the games that we've won. There definitely is room for improvement, and Game 2 was worse in terms of drafting and performance. Still, I'm happy that now our opponents would want to ban Rumble when I am around.

I've heard that you were happy about Gyunghwan "MaRin" Jang picking Dr. Mundo. Can you tell us why?

I was confident that I'd do well as soon as I saw MaRin picking Dr. Mundo. In my opinion, AFs need to have MaRin at the helm to win. However, Dr. Mundo is not a playmaking champion, so it doesn't fit MaRin's playstyle very well, and I was able to play more aggressively than he could.

Dr. Mundo is still a force to be reckoned with in the late game.

That's true, but I was confident that my teammates would be able to handle it as long as we don't get picked off. So, I just focused on putting pressure on other lanes.

You've mentioned how you haven't been doing well lately. Can you tell us more why you feel that way?

I was having difficulty adjusting to SKT T1's playstyle because kkOma and I had a different vision of how to play the game. kkOma's vision is something that suits SKT T1 perfectly, but it was not something that I was used to. Personally, I don't think any of us is wrong. However, it is certain that I have to follow kkOma's ideas if I want to win as a SKT T1 member, and winning always comes first.

Is there a DPS toplaner that you want to play in a match? or is it a secret for now?

Do you want me to say Lucian? (Laughs) I've actually tried champions like Riven, but I got scolded for that. I do have a few in mind, but I think it will be up to kkOma for me to use them in matches.

Do you feel pressured because of the competition for the starting position?

Of course. Being benched out is just as bad as being unemployed. (Laughs)

Thank you for your time. Do you have anything else that you want to share?

I'm sure today's match was something that a lot of people were looking forward to. Although it's a shame that we couldn't shut them down with a 2-0, I'm glad that we've done pretty well today. I actually think that it is better for us to have something to improve on right now, because what really matters is being perfect during the playoffs. I hope that we can show you the perfect SKT T1 soon enough.
