G2 Esports will be moving on to the 2020 League of Legends World Championship semifinals after beating Gen.G 3-0. The “Best in the West” will face the LCK Summer Split champions DAMWON Gaming for a chance to reach the finals.
Going into this series, the favored team had been deemed to be on the LCK side, but G2 Esports has proven to truly be the region’s Kryptonite. The first two games were marked by a favorable draft on the EU's side, with Gen.G being completely outclassed by their opponent. By the time it was game three, it was too late to come out to play.
During the first two games of the series, G2 Esports’ Mid Laner Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther had an impressive K/D/A of 37.0, with 30.8% damage. As stated on the broadcast by Aaron “Medic” Chamberlain, Caps is on track to make his third consecutive Worlds finals. Only three other players have reached this record, being Faker, Bang, and Wolf.
With the semifinals teams locked in, G2 Esports will face DAMWON Gaming, while Top Esports will be going up against Suning Gaming. We are one step closer to seeing the Worlds 2020 trophy being lifted.
