On April 4th (KST), APK Prince took on KT Rolster in Round 2 of the 2020 LCK Spring. With a set score of 2-1, APK was able to take the victory against KT. As teams that had a bad start to the Spring split, both APK and KT are successfully climbing the LCK standings. At the end of the day, not only did they put a halt to KT’s momentum, they extended their own match winning streak to three.
The POGs of the series, HyBriD and Flawless, joined the official LCK broadcast for a post-match interview.
Congratulations on the victory. How does it feel for the team to go on a 3 match winning streak?
HyBriD: I’m happy that we won the game by getting a Pentakill myself, and also at the fact that we can continue our win streak. We’ll make sure to work hard to make sure that we put on a better performance.
It’s been a while since you received POG, Flawless.
Flawless: I thought it would be hard to receive POG as Jarvan, but I’m glad that I received it at the end.
Although APK suffered many losses in Round 1, many have commented that the team has potential. What do you think changed for such success in Round 2?
Flawless: I think that we’re doing well because not only do all five of us trust each other very much, we’re also working hard with the mindset of not doing anything that can cause inconvenience to one another.
How does your team build teamwork?
HyBriD: The most crucial thing about it all is doing everything together, whether it’s having a meal or going back to the team house.
The voice comms towards the end was interesting. “Strike while the iron is hot”. Are things pretty hot right now?
Flawless: Yes, it’s very hot (laughter).
Some people are saying that APK’s aggressiveness has a lot of LPL influence behind it.
HyBriD: No, we didn’t get influenced by the LPL. We tried playing defensively, but it just didn’t fit our play style. An aggressive playstyle fits us a lot better.
Players sometimes go crazy while playing aggressive. In terms of aggressiveness, who’s the most aggressive?
Flawless: It’s definitely ikksu.
HyBriD: Although we can rely on him because of his big brother traits, he’s also the most passionate for the matches.
Flawless, I know that you’re really good at Lee Sin, but Lee’s currently on a 10-game losing streak. What do you think about Lee Sin?
Flawless: I don’t think he’s that good right now, so I’m working on different options. If the right opportunity comes, I hope I can be the one to break that losing streak.
HyBriD, you scored another Pentakill today. These days, your level of performance is incredible.
HyBriD: I made a lot of mistakes before I got the Penta, so I felt really bad for my teammates, but I’m glad that I redeemed myself.
A lot of people are comparing you to Aiming. Were you nervous about playing against him?
HyBriD: I wasn’t nervous, but since KT’s much higher than us in the standings, we played with the mindset of a challenger.
It seemed like you struggled against KT’s macro in Game 2.
Flawless: We played a very defensive comp, and I don’t think such picks work well for us. That’s why we played a composition that’s more aggressive.
There’s a possibility that APK might even make it to the playoff gauntlet.
HyBriD: Although the odds are against us, where not only do we have to win every single one of our upcoming matches, we also need to get lucky, we’ll work hard to make sure that it becomes reality.
Lastly, is there anything you want to say?
Flawless: Although we had a rough run in Round 1, we’re practicing really hard to be better in Round 2, so please make sure to keep supporting us.
