Credits are due when a Marvel Rivals match ends, and SVP is one of the honors players receive when a game wraps up. This performance-based stat caught me off guard when I first started playing the game since I never saw a similar mechanic.
In multiplayer team games, the winning teams generally receive all the while the losing players return to the main lobby to find a new match. This isn't the case in Marvel Rivals since your performance can still receive a round of applause with SVP, even when you lose a game.
The meaning of SVP in Marvel Rivals

SVP is the short form for "Second Valuable Player" in Marvel Rivals. When a Marvel Rivals match ends, this title is given to the best-performing player on the losing team.
Ultimately, SVP follows the same criteria as the MVP title. In most cases, players with the most damage, healing, or mitigation will become SVP when they lose a match and MVP when they're the winners.
Though the title itself may not mean much, becoming SVP after a rough game often feels like a consolation prize. Personally, it lets me know there were some things that I did right throughout a match unless I just happened to become SVP because I fed a tiny bit less compared to my teammates. Also, you'll still lose rank points even when you get SVP.
How to get more MVP and SVP titles in Marvel Rivals

If you want to receive more MVP and SVP titles in Marvel Rivals, you should consistently outperform in your in-game role.
Duelists should deal more damage or get the highest KDA in a game, a vanguard should mitigate the most damage, or a strategist should have the most healing on their team. If you check these boxes, there's a decent chance you will receive MVP or SVP, depending on the end result of a match.
If you're looking to maximize your odds of getting MVP and SVP, you can focus on picking a handful of heroes you mastered in every match to ensure your performance is consistent. I never get tired of spamming my champion, even when receiving errors like 2103, telling me operation frequency is too high. Such errors may kick you out of the game, but you should be able to return to the queue in no time when the servers come back online as quickly as possible.
