G2, a leading esports organization celebrating its 10th anniversary, announced its entry into traditional sports by joining Kings League Germany. The organization will compete in the upcoming Kings World Cup Qualifiers set to take place in Germany this year, marking the first time a European esports outfit has taken part in the global tournament.
G2’s expansion into traditional sports is part of its broader strategy to blend esports, conventional sports, and digital innovation in order to engage a diverse, multigenerational audience. The move seeks to capitalize on the growing convergence between digital entertainment and physical sports, reflecting G2’s long-term vision for the future of fan engagement.
The newly formed team, G2 FC, will operate out of Berlin and has appointed two local football veterans to lead the squad. The organization selected Ron Stublla, who brings experience from sports management and the Youth Bundesliga, to serve as team manager. Additionally, Malik Hadziavdic, known for his time with the German National Futsal team and his participation in the Futsal Bundesliga with FC Liria Berlin, has been named coach. The duo is expected to steer the team through a rigorous qualification process at Adidas SPORTS BASE BERLIN, with a full roster reveal anticipated soon.
In a further push to integrate digital media with traditional sports, G2 has partnered with prominent German influencers Reeze and Rumathra. The pair will co-stream all G2 FC matches on Twitch, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the team’s journey through the qualifiers.
Kings League Germany launches on April 12 with a qualification series designed to determine which teams will represent the country at the Kings World Cup in June. G2’s participation in the league underscores its commitment to innovative sports entertainment and marks a milestone in its efforts to merge competitive esports with traditional athletic endeavors.
