League of Legends's Arcane burst into our lives in 2021. As soon as you get a taste of the show, you instantly start wondering about Arcane's season two release date.

Considering Arcane's first season left fans on a cliffhanger, many expected a quick return to Piltover. The wait turned out to be longer than everyone signed up for, as it's been almost 3 years since Arcane's Netflix debut. If you forgot what happened in season one, fear not, as Netflix often puts together recaps at the start of a season to get everyone up to speed with the story.

When is Arcane Season 2's release date?

Arcane season two's release date is November 2024. This information was confirmed in an official first look trailer for the series.

When it comes to the plot for Arcane season two, all we have are bread crumbles scattered around by the show's writers in Reddit AmA. Thanks to community members who deciphered Christian Linke and Alex Yee's comments, we can expect to learn more about the dynamics between Ekko and Jinx.

Riot Games duo also used the term "war" to describe Arcane season two, so we aren't ruling out extensive, high-budget fighting scenes that might throw us off our seats.

Why is Arcane Season 2 taking so long?

Arcane season two took so long because Riot didn't expect the show to become such a hit. The developer's CEO, Nicolo Laurent, mentioned this in an interview that originally aired on the Chinese media site Bilibili. According to Laurent, Riot had no idea how season one would perform in terms of numbers. This resulted in Riot waiting for the dust to settle, ultimately delaying Arcana season two, and the show won an Emmy in the meantime.

The interview mentioned above occurred in 2023, and Laurent also mentions watching episode three of Arcane season two at that time. Based on rough estimates, Arcane season two may be ready to go, and currently undergoing additional polish.

Will Arcane have season 3?

No, Arcane will not have a third season. Though this may sound disappointing, Arcane writers had a distinguished ending in mind as they started the project. Arcane season two will be the series' final season, tying all loose ends while properly ending the storyline without a cliffhanger.

However, Riot may have more League of Legends-themed shows under its sleeve. The game has a rich lore, and Arcane could have opened the gateway to Runeterra. With Riot focusing more on external projects like Arcane and other game development, the creative minds could surprise us with another exciting storyline involving some of our favorite champions.

Due to its immersive storytelling, Arcane mostly felt like a miniseries, and Riot could apply the same formula quite a few times before it ran out of lore material. While there have been talks of what would happen to Arcane, the writers or team members didn't share any relevant dates. News regarding Riot's future on video streaming platforms is likely to surface once Arcane's finale airs this November on Netflix.
