A promising North American Heroes of the Storm roster in 2018 may play under a different sponsor in 2019, according to sources.
Currently represented by Team Freedom, the roster consisting of Merek "zugrug" Kangas, Phillipe "Nazmas" Laberge, Jérôme "KilluZiioN" Tanguay, Orie "YoDa" Gue and Vincent "Lutano" Alonso is in the process of fielding information regarding a new organization to call home for the upcoming Heroes Global Championship (HGC) season.
Team Freedom, their current organization, is considering leaving the HGC circuit, per sources.
The leading candidate to pick up the roster is one that currently holds a team within the same NA region, Simplicity.
According to sources, Simplicity, which had two players from their 2018 team retire in the offseason, John Paul "KingCaffeine" Lopez and Keiwan "k1pro" Itakura, is interested in staying within the Heroes of the Storm HGC scene but is looking to upgrade their roster.
When reached out to for comment, Simplicity General Manager, Jeremy McLamb said, "At the moment there is nothing that has been fully expressed. We are still doing research into the scene and the viability of Heroes of the Storm. We are very interested in staying around but nothing is final, No contracts or nothing like that."
McLamb added that Heroes of the Storm has been great when it comes to their streamers that represent the organization and the community as a whole has been welcoming.
Recently, a current member of Simplicity, Raphael "Hosty" Tsantili, was overheard on the Twitch stream of Keaton "BamBam" Consentine saying that he was going to be on an HGC roster for 2019 but did not comment as to which.
It has been rumored that Simplicity wants to potentially build around Hosty going forward so it is yet to be determined whether the entire Team Freedom roster would be picked up or if some would become free agents.
Team Freedom's General Manager, George "Goofy" Gebhardt did not comment as to whether the organization had any interest in leaving the Heroes of the Storm scene but replied with a meme when asked to comment on the story.
(Note: Comments from Simplicity and Team Freedom were added to this story upon receiving.)
