Michael Morhaime, the co-founder and CEO at Blizzard Entertainment, has resigned from the company.
Through the official social media and homepage, Blizzard Entertainment announced the resignation of Michael Morhaime as the CEO. He co-founded Silicon and Synapse, the former company of Blizzard Entertainment, with Allen Adham and Frank Pearce in 1991. He led the company as a developer and CEO for 27 years ever since.
On his last note, Mr. Morhaime left thankful messages to employees of the company who have been developing games with their passion and dedication. To players who constitute the gaming community, he also left a note that he “couldn’t have done any of it without you”, emphasizing that players who love and partake in the various activities are most important to the company.
After his resignation, it is believed that Mr. Morhaime will take on the role as the adviser at Blizzard Entertainment. The new CEO following Mr. Morhaime is J. Allen Brack, current World of Warcraft Production Director.
“Joining the World of Warcraft team and my favorite game company nearly 13 years ago was an unimaginable dream. Now, to be chosen to lead Blizzard into the future is both a huge honor and a tremendous responsibility,” said Mr. Brack in his message. He also promised that he will still continue to carry on the values that Blizzard has been pursuing - a player-first mindset.
