Blizzard Entertainment announced that the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship Eastern Clash will start on March 17th (Friday), 1 pm (China Standard Time); and it will be aired worldwide through various streaming services.
Offering over 100,000 USD in the prize pool, the Eastern Clash will take place in the Gold Series Stadium in Shanghai from March 17th to 19th. A total of eight teams will compete in the Eastern Clash: L5, MVP Black and Tempest will represent Korea; eStar Gaming, Super Perfect Team and ZeroPanda will represent China; and finally, Resurgence and Team Face Check will represent Southeast Asia and Taiwan respectively.
The opening match of the Eastern Clash will pit L5 from Korea and Resurgence from the Southeast Asia region against each other. L5 (as Ballistix) triumphed in the 2016 Heroes of the Storm Fall Championship that took place at BlizzCon 2016 and also won at the subsequent Gold Club World Championship. Even this year, L5 did not drop a single match in the HGC Korea. Without a doubt, L5 is a huge favorite, expected to winning the Eastern Clash.
However, with the recent rise of eStar Gaming and successful rebuilding of MVP Black and Tempest, it will not be easy to predict which team will be left standing in the Eastern Clash - the only prediction that can be made is that the tournament will certainly be a treat for those who are into competitive Heroes of the Storm.
The games will be streamed live on Blizzard's official Heroes of the Storm Twitch channel and Facebook page, and they will be casted by Josh “JHow” Howard, Tim “Trikslyr” Frazier, Wade “Dreadnaught” Penfold, Jaycie “Gillyweed” Gluck, and Wolf “Wolf” Schröder.
