Kim "Fenix" Jae-hoon has been signed by Team Dignitas for the 2020 LCS season. The veteran mid laner will be joining the DIG roster in the AD Carry position.

The context of Fenix’s signing is unusual for two reasons. First, Dignitas’ second signing this off-season after top laner Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon was Johnson "Johnsun" Nguyen, a rookie AD Carry from Canada.

Second, Fenix is role swapping into unfamiliar territory. It’s worth mentioning that Fenix began his career in South Korea as 'Miso', a top laner, but the majority of his career has been in the LCS Mid Lane pool since his debut for Team Liquid in the 2015 NA LCS Spring Split.

While it is possible Fenix could be platooning in the Bot Lane carry role with Johnsun, Fenix has struggled to maintain LCS starter quality as a mid laner in the past calendar year or two. Chances are that the veteran will serve as an insurance policy should Johnsun not be ready to prove himself as the only rookie in the 2020 LCS Spring Split.

In addition to Huni, Johnsun, and Fenix, Dignitas has signed three veterans to round out its roster. Former Golden Guardians Mid Laner Henrik "Froggen" Hansen, former TSM Jungler Jonathan "Grig" Armao, and former 100 Thieves Support Zaqueri "aphromoo" Black will start for DIG in 2020.
