On Tuesday afternoon, the next chapter in the story of 2019's "streaming wars" was written and it included some big names. Simultaneously, Ben "DrLupo" Lupo, Tim "TimTheTatman" Betar and Saqib "Lirik" Zahid released videos on their Twitter accounts announcing that they had all signed multi-year extensions with Twitch to remain on the platform exclusively for the foreseeable future. The compensation and length of the deal was not made public.
Across all social and streaming platforms, the trio boasts over 10 million followers combined which they have accrued since they began streaming and creating content back in the early 2010s. Loaded, the management company that represents the trio, released a statement shortly after the announcement went live.
“These professional streamers are a part of the core foundation of Twitch,” Loaded founder and CEO Brandon Freytag said in a statement. “Each started to stream in 2011 or 2012 and have built massive and passionate audiences.”
Loaded also represents Tyler "Ninja" Blevins and Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek who both signed an exclusive deal with Microsoft's platform, Mixer, earlier this year. Jack "CouRage" Dunlop, another Loaded client, signed with Youtube Gaming at the beginning of November.
"We’re really excited that DrLupo, LIRIK, and TimTheTatman will keep calling Twitch home,” said Mike Aragon, Twitch’s senior Vice President of content and partnerships. “They’re incredible players and partners and each bring a unique style to their streams that really resonates with their communities. They’ve achieved a lot to date, and we’re thrilled to be able to partner with and invest in them so they can continue to build on that success in the future.”
