Sports/esports organization FC Schalke 04 has made a change to its League of Legends roster. Star AD Carry Elias "Upset" Lipp is vacating the Bot Lane for the LEC squad as the org decided not to renew the 19-year old's contract past the originally agreed-upon period.

Tim Reichert, Chief Gaming Officer of Schalke 04, praised Upset in a fond farewell in the team's official statement: “Over the last years, Elias has developed enormously and his career is an excellent example of the sustainable work that Schalke 04 is doing in esports. We helped Elias on his way from a talented newcomer to an established pro and helped him make progress – be it as a person or as a player. We as a club are particularly proud of that...We wish Elias all the best for his future.”

Upset tweeted his own statement after the announcement was made public, implying that he may have already found a team: "Now that it is official that I am leaving Schalke I wanted say thank you to all the staff and fans. I hope you continue supporting me and I will keep giving my best in the future and hope I can build something great with my new team."

That wasn't the only thing Upset tweeted this morning, however. The German AD Carry also implied he was in the vicinity of Los Angeles, in which Riot Games, the LCS studio, and all LCS teams are within mere miles.

While this could be a troll due to the usual off-season reactions to a European pro playing for North America, a player of Upset's talent going to North America isn't difficult to imagine. After Dignitas' re-signing of Top Laner Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon for 2 years, $2.3 million, Upset could command quite a salary by potentially joining an LCS team.

FC Schalke 04 was seeded into the 2019 LEC Regional Final 3rd from the bottom, but a surging Splyce followed up its 3-2 victory over Origen by sweeping Schalke and qualifying for the 2019 World Championship, ending Royal Blue's 2019 season one step from the international stage.
