Group A still has a bunch of games left to play, but already the qualifiers have been separated from the eliminated. GRF started off the day with a win over C9, taking them to 3-1, and G2 followed up with a victory over HKA, moving them to 4-0.

With C9 being unable to catch up due to an 0-2 record against GRF, and with HKA sitting at 0-4, teams Griffin and G2 Esports are set to advance to Madrid in the Quarterfinals. The teams' seeds will be decided after the games later on, with HKA and C9 now just playing "upset."

G2 Esports advanced to the Semifinals last year, where they fell to the eventual World Champions, Invictus Gaming. This is Griffin's first year at Worlds, and despite many questioning their fortitude, they did not crumble under pressure, and even without their head coach, they clinch their ticket to the Knockouts.

These teams will learn their opponents in the draw after the last Group Stage games on Sunday, Oct. 20th. Check back later for more news on the Groups.
