What started with a hopeful rebound for Cloud9 ended rather quickly as they lost their first game to Griffin, requiring G2 to go 0-3 AND lose in their tiebreaker for C9 to make it through. And as much as a fantasy that would've been, G2 shook the C9 hopefuls wide awake to the bitter reality that despite C9 still having two games left to play on the day, there will be no knockout stage for C9. 

This is the first time since 2015 that Cloud9 has not made it to the knockout stage. Last year, they even made it to the Semi-Finals, facing Fnatic there. Maybe the Play-Ins really was a buff for them after all. 

HKA was also eliminated, after a poor showing in the first week, going 0-3. Their first game loss to G2 Esports determined their elimination, and they will now be looking for a single win or two as consolation prizes for their Worlds tour.
