On the 4th, DetonatioN FocusMe took down Splyce, a team that many predicted to be the favorites to move onto the group stages. After a disappointing first day in the play-in stages, DetonatioN surprised a lot of people with their victory over LEC’s 3rd seed team.
The following is an interview with the mid laner from DFM, Ceros.
Congratulations on your first victory at Worlds. What would you say the biggest difference for your team’s Day 1 performance as to today’s?
One of the things that we've told ourselves after Day 1 was that we’ve told ourselves that we were just playing scrims on stage.
What's the biggest difference between playing on stage and scrims for your team?
One of the biggest differences was that we’re able to focus a lot better during scrims, so having such a mentality helped our performance today.
How does it feel to have Heimerdinger target banned against you every game?
I knew that Heimerdinger was going to be perma banned against me, so I just accepted it and prepared accordingly.
You have one more match remaining. How do you think it'll go, and how will you keep this mental state that you’ve mentioned earlier?
If we play like last game, we’re confident that we’ll be able to move onto the next stage.
