On the 29th (KST), SK Telecom T1 defeated Gen.G Esports 2-0. Following the 5-game slide, SK Telecom T1 has stood up by winning 2 consecutive matches. They went 4-0 in set score this week. During this week where SKT went 2-0 (+4), Park “Teddy” Jin-seong had contributed to the team’s victories much. After the match, Teddy sat with Inven Global for an interview.
Congrats on today’s win again. You’re 2-0 for the week and won every game. How do you feel?
I feel good that we won 2-0 and didn’t make any mistakes.
Now starting a 2-game winning streak, but there should have been some mental struggles during the losing streak. How was it?
For sure, we lost some confidence during that period. We made mistakes and games didn’t go well. But on the other hand, since we had so many straight losses, there was nothing more to be afraid of.
Among the players, Teddy might be used to the team losing so much. Did your experience in Jin Air help you during the losing streak?
It felt completely different from when I was in Jin Air. The attention we had is a lot more… I don’t know, but I guess the experience could have helped. (Laughs)
SKT seemed to be a bit obsessed with Sona. Why was that?
When we played Sona in scrims, the opponent wasn’t able to deal with it well and we had a good win rate. I think it seemed like that because we were confident with the pick due to the high win rate during scrims.
How did the 9.12 change as a bot laner?
Karma’s buff became stronger so if I play with Karma, the bot laner can carry harder, but other than that, it’s pretty much the same.
Effort started today. How is he different from Mata?
Mata is aggressive. He makes more calls. Comparably, Effort is more solid and defensive. He’s like a shield that doesn’t get pushed back. It seems that Effort is more confident playing melee tanks and Mata likes playing champions like Lux or Yuumi.
You’ll be heading to Rift Rivals next week. Is there any team that you’d like to play against?
Not really. I think what’s important is to raise our performance as much as we can.
FunPlus Phoenix Doinb said that he wants to face SKT. He said that the reason is that SKT’s current form doesn’t seem so good. Do you have anything to say about that?
I guess I can’t say anything because it’s true. (Laughs) But we had 2 straight wins and now gained more confidence. We’ll be able to deliver good performances at Rift Rivals.
In the NA/EU Rift Rivals, the players are rather enjoying the tournament, attempting many new things. Would SKT be more serious in the Asian Rift Rivals?
As much as it’s in the middle of the summer season, we would be more serious.
Did you see Perkz pick Yasuo and playing in top lane?
Yes, I did. (Do you think you can do that too?) I think I can do it too, but I’m not sure if my team would trust me on that. (Laughs) Khan playing ADC as well.
Lastly, a word to the fans?
Our losing streak went on for too long. As much as we struggled, our fans would have struggled too. I’m sorry about that. I’ll do my best to win as much as we can in the remaining matches, so please keep cheering for us. Thank you.
