On the 29th of June (KST), in the 2019 LCK Summer Split day 19 match, SK Telecom T1 defeated Gen.G Esports 2-0. The performance of SKT was nothing like that of their losing streak, dominating Gen.G Esports all around the Rift. In the match, Park "Teddy" Jin-seong and Lee "Effort" Sang-ho were voted as MVPs and were interviewed afterward.
You won both matches this week. How do you feel?
Teddy: Today, no one made any big mistakes so it went well.
Effort started for the first time this season. Did you feel nervous?
Effort: It did feel good because I was starting. As for the match, I wasn’t nervous compared to any other match.
Many people said that SKT’s picks and bans in Game 1 were really good. Did you prepare the Kalista-Nautilus pick against Yuumi?
Teddy: During a scrim, the opponent used it and we thought it was pretty strong. We tried it out today, and it was good.
What did you think when Gen.G picked top Tahm Kench?
Effort: We all prepared and predicted it so it went as we thought.
Effort had amazing performances on Nautilus and Tahm Kench. Teddy, are you satisfied with his performance?
Teddy: Effort did everything he can do today, and he was really good. He was worthy of getting MVP in both games today, but I guess I was better in Game 1. (Laughs)
(To Effort) How was laning against the Ruler-Life duo today?
Effort: I had in mind that they’re an amazing bot duo. Keeping that in mind was just enough tension for me to do well.
You took almost all of the objectives in both games today. Did you focus on that?
Teddy: We had the upper hand in most of today’s games so we tried to take all the objectives and steal away the opponents’ jungle while playing slow.
In Game 2, Effort played very aggressively.
Effort: Teddy told me to play aggressively. When we killed the opponent bot duo, our teammates were coming and I thought we would take benefit if I move forward, so I did.
After ending the losing streak, how did the team atmosphere change?
Teddy: It got a lot better last time because we ended our losing streak. Now that we’ve won again, it would get even better.
Next week is Rift Rivals. How will you be preparing?
Effort: I’ll be watching the matches, playing a lot of solo queue and study more champions.
SKT now needs 12 consecutive wins. Any resolutions?
Teddy: I didn’t feel that good after the 5-game losing streak, but I’ll do my best to get that 12-game winning streak.
