On the 27th (KST), SK Telecom T1 finally broke their losing streak against kt Rolster. In the 2019 LCK Summer Split Day 17 match, SK Telecom T1 defeated kt Rolster 2-0 and were able to turn around their negative flow. In the match, Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong and Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok were voted as MVPs and were interviewed after the match.

It was a long way to end the losing streak. How do you feel?

Mata: We were struggling in the losing streak… I’m really happy that we won.

(To Faker) What did you focus on during practice?

Faker: While we were in the losing streak, our team had lost a lot of confidence. When I looked at ourselves, it seemed that our performance on stage wasn’t as good as our scrims. I tried to encourage my teammates to be more confident.

Both teams seemed to be extra cautious in Game 1. First blood was at 16 minutes. Were the team calls to play slow?

Mata: We didn’t intend to play that slow, but we talked about making timely engages.

There were mistakes and the game was in a difficult situation. How were the late game plans?

Mata: Since we had the better dragons to ourselves, we should have capitalized on that, but we weren’t able to.

Faker’s Neeko in Game 2 had the most damage with a 2/0/14 record. The Glacial Neeko was amazing.

Faker: Neeko is a champion that has initiative during fights, and she’s good at engaging and initiating fights, so I tried to focus on that.

You haven’t played a single game on Neeko even in spring. Are you attempting a style-change?

Faker: I first started playing Neeko to change my style, but as I played her, it was fun. So I continued to play her.

The last teamfight could have been dangerous, but Neeko’s Blossom landed well.

Faker: At first, I thought we won the fight for sure, but it went rather badly. We squeezed out the win.

Earlier in the game, you went for Baron after Nautilus was cut off. How were the calls?

Faker: Usually, hitting Baron in that situation is a bad decision, but we played the mind game. It seemed that the opponent won’t come, so we decided to hit Baron altogether.

You must have a lot to say to the fans…

Mata: Our results up to now are really bad, so there are many fans that are worried about us. We lacked confidence recently, but with today’s win, we’ll do our best to win more to get up higher in the standings.

Faker: Before going into today’s match, I joked to my teammates that we should win 13 straight games. We did win today, but we have to win more games than the spring. I’d like to thank the fans who continued to send us support during the losing streak. We’ll continue to do our best.
