On April 25, 2015, EDward Gaming defeated LGD Gaming 3-2 in the 2015 LPL Spring Finals. In becoming the League of Legends Pro League Spring Champion, EDG represented China at the very first Mid-Season Invitiational.

EDward Gaming came into the 2015 LPL Spring Split with something to prove. Despite qualifying for the 2014 League of Legends World Championship as China's #1 seed, EDward gaming disappointed internationally. A 2nd place finish in Group A only became a playoff qualification after a tie-breaker with AHQ Esports. EDG lost in the Quarterfinals to fellow Chinese representative Star Horn Royal Club.

Not to be outdone the following year, the team made a splash by signing South Korean imports to both carry positions. Samsung Galaxy Blue AD Carry Kim "Deft" Hyuk-kyu and Samsung Galaxy White Mid Laner Heo "PawN" Won-seok. The new, hybrid EDG dominated LPL and made it to the Finals with ease to face LGD.

After a back and forth series, Game 5 started heavily in favor of LGD Gaming. PawN's Twisted Fate was heavily camped by LGD, and the Lissandra play of Wei "GodV" Zhen was providing all of the CC necessary. Still, through superior map play and adventures gained by Deft and Jungler Ming "Clearlove" Kai, EDG was able to gain a lead despite LGD's relentless pounding of PawN.

Late in the game around 35 minutes, LGD had priority around Baron and took the opportunity to try and secure the Nashor to eliminate a 7k gold deficit. Deft had other plans:

Deft's incredible Pentakill on Sivir secured the LPL trophy for EDG, who went on to represent China at the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational. EDG would run through the entirety of the tournament to defeat LCK Champions SK Telecom T1 in a five game final. This was the first time in the history of LoL Esports that China was considered to be the most dominant region in the world.
