On the 3rd of April (KST), the 2019 LCK Spring Split Wild Card match took place in which SANDBOX Gaming and DAMWON Gaming clashed. Both teams were promoted to the LCK this season, and they both reached the postseason in their first seasons, but only one team was allowed to advance further into the playoffs.

SANDBOX Gaming was known as the Dragon Slayer team in the LCK; they had slain the most dragons during the regular season. However, they weren’t able to take a single dragon in Game 1. Although DAMWON Gaming was trailing in global gold in the early game, they took six dragons (3 mountain, 2 cloud, 1 elder) and were able to bring the first game to themselves.

In Game 2, DAMWON Gaming played on the blue side and was able to pick up Sylas for Nuguri. SANDBOX Gaming reacted by flexing Dove to top lane on Karma and having Summit play Jayce in mid lane. Fights were fierce and no one could tell who would win the game, but after a clutch teamfight win led by SANDBOX Gaming’s Ghost and Dove, they succeeded to destroy DAMWON’s Nexus.

DAMWON Gaming started off strong and never let go of the lead in Game 3. After a few skirmishes in favor of DAMWON, they snowballed their lead to push ahead. Showmaker’s Corki picked up a double kill at top lane, and later in the game, Nuguri’s Ryze was 3 levels ahead of the opponent. SANDBOX Gaming never stood a chance.

As of today’s win, DAMWON Gaming will be facing their next challenge against Kingzone DragonX on Friday.
