LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Boston Uprising announced today the signing of Zion “Persia” Yang. The 20- year old support joins the Uprising from the Overwatch Contenders League: Pacific, where he played for Talon Esports for the past year.
Zion hails from South Korea and broke into professional esports with the Pacific division of the
Contenders League. He was a member of the Talon Esports team that finished first in Season Two.
“We are excited to welcome Zion "Persia" Yang to our team. We look forward to having him as a part of the Uprising and feel he will be a key member moving forward.”
The Uprising will begin Stage 2 of the season on April 4 against the Atlanta Reign at 8:45 p.m. Eastern
time. Boston went 4-3 in Stage 1 and qualified for the playoffs before falling to eventual champion
Vancouver Titans.

The Boston Uprising announced today that the team has acquired Richard “rCk” Kanerva from the Dallas Fuel in a trade in exchange for Lucas “NotE” Meissner. Kanerva joined the Fuel on a two-year contract prior to Season 2 from the Overwatch Contenders League: Europe, where he competed on Team Gigantti. The Finland native plays both off-tank and flex tank and broke into professional Overwatch with the Finnish esports team ENCE Esports.

part of the team moving forward and believe he will be a key contributor for us.”
Meissner joined the Uprising from Toronto Esports prior to the Overwatch League’s inaugural season. The 20-year old flex tank played a key role in Boston’s first season and started each match this season.

President of Gaming for The Kraft Group. “He was a key part of our team as a player and a person and we wish him nothing but the best of luck with the Fuel moving forward.”
The Uprising will begin Stage Two against the Atlanta Reign on April 4 at 8:45 p.m. Eastern time. Boston finished Stage One with a 4-3 record and qualified for the playoffs before losing to the eventual champion Vancouver Titans.
