FlyQuest's first LCS Semfinals appearance will be opposing reigning North American champions Team Liquid on Sunday, April 7th.

Team Liquid secured 1st place for the second split in a row with a record of 14-4, and entered the 2019 LCS Spring Playoffs on a quest for a third consecutive LCS title. FlyQuest, whose last playoff appearance was in the 2018 NA LCS Summer Quarterfinals, defeated Golden Guardians in a 3-2 epic to secure its first semifinals berth since the organization's inaugural split in the spring of 2017.

FlyQuest comes in as the underdog 4th seed, but Team Liquid's end of the spring split was less than stellar. FlyQuest bested Team Liquid in Week 8 of the 2019 LCS Spring Split. However, last time theseteams met was a best of one, and a best of five series in an entirely different dynamic.

While Team Liquid initially seemed to have other plans...

FlyQuest makes the most sense for the defending champion to select as its opponent. Both Cloud9 and TSM were red hot and almost inarguably in superior form to Team Liquid at the end of the split, with TSM specifically ending with an 11-1 record in its final 12 games.

FlyQuest is not to be counted out, however. The organization has made a brand out of proving its doubters wrong time after time, and the team's structure from the top down is best in class. "Everyone who works in FlyQuest are super nice, awesome people." said FlyQuest Jungler Lucas "Santorin" Tao Kilmer Larsen said in an interview with Inven Global.

I've not had a single message from a FlyQuest staff member or supporter that didn't hype us up or come across friendly. Having a team atmosphere that's always positive builds confidence, which is massive for players.

FlyQuest Mid Laner Eugene "Pobelter" Park took great pleasure in defeating his former team in their last meeting, and the notorious POB took to twitter after TL's selection to make his feelings known:
