Cloud9 secured 2nd place in the 2019 LCS Spring Split in a triumphant victory over FlyQuest Saturday afternoon. Tomorrow, Cloud9 Academy will start the final game of the LCS while the main roster takes a breather. 

The self-proclaimed Academy World Champions will hit the rift against Clutch Gaming, who were swiftly eliminated from playoffs Saturday afternoon by TSM. Top Laner Ziqing "Kumo" Zhao and Support David "Diamond" Bérubé will be making their respective LCS debuts, and Bot Laner Yuri "Keith" Jew will start in the LCS for the first time since the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split.

The swap also serves to benefit Robert "Blaber" Huang and Greyson "Goldenglue" Gilmer. Cloud9's super-subs have already made an appearance each in the LCS this year. Blaber outclassed Juan "Contractz" Garcia in the jungle in Cloud9's Week 6, Day 1 victory over Golden Guardians. Goldenglue was less fortunate in his Week 8, Day 1 effort, falling to Echo Fox in a rare defeat for C9.

The Mid-Jungle duo punch led Cloud9 Academy to a 1st place finish in the 2019 NA Academy League Spring Split, which granted the team a playoff bye in the quarterfinals.  C9A will face off against Team Liquid Academy in the semifinals of the 2019 NA Academy League Spring Playoffs.

Blaber and Goldenglue are integral parts to Cloud9's main roster and will most likely see plenty of playing time come playoffs. For Goldenglue, however, this is more than just getting an opportunity to flex on the main roster. The swole bro tweeted that it was "time for his revenge on Midlet" in reference to Clutch Gaming's Bot-now-apparently-for-some-reason-Mid Laner Chae "Piglet" Gwang-Jin.

The first round of the Midlet experiment was in the 2017 NA LCS Spring Split. Team Liquid started Piglet in the Mid Lane towards the end of the split, which promptly benched an admittedly struggling Goldenglue.  There may not be much in the way of stakes in the C9 vs. CG match tomorrow, but given the history and playstyles of these teams, expect sparks to fly.
