On the 21st (KST), in the second match of the 2019 LCK Spring Split Day 38, Kingzone DragonX defeated kt Rolster 2-0 and secured a spot in the playoffs. While Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu became the 9th player to reach 1,000 kills in the LCK, Heo “PawN” Won-
The following is an interview with PawN and Deft.
(To PawN) It’s your first MVP. How do you feel?
PawN: I thought I did pretty well, but I thought I wouldn’t be able to get MVP because Deft got 1,000 kills. When I was told that I got MVP, I realized it was fair. (Laughs)
You had delivered good performances in the past but weren’t able to get MVP. How did you feel then?
PawN: It’s a bummer, but since there were other players that were better than me, they deserved it.
(To Deft) You got your 1,000th kill in the LCK and became the sole leader in the MVP race. How do you feel?
Deft: We did win, but I’m not very satisfied because there were several mistakes I made in both of the games.
(To PawN) I heard that you give yourself a lot of feedback on your own performance.
PawN: I always give feedback about my own performance whether I win or lose; about things I did well and things I shouldn’t have done.
Some say that the mid-jungle synergy became a lot better than before.
PawN: It’s been a while now since I’ve been playing with Cuzz. At first, our teamwork wasn’t that good, but since we’re both good players, we’re doing well after some time.
How does Rascal’s champion pool help during the picks & bans?
PawN: Rascal said that he can play any champion at top lane if the opponent picks a counter in mid lane, so it’s really convenient.
Your performance on Lissandra in Game 1 was very impressive. You evaded the ganks so naturally.
PawN: I knew that Jarvan IV was coming in and since the matchup against Galio isn’t that bad, I was able to avoid it without much trouble.
In Game 2, Deft picked Kog’Maw. The last time Kog’Maw appeared was last summer, and you played it. Was it a pick prepared to play against Vayne?
Deft: There aren’t many picks that are good against Vayne, but I picked Kog’Maw because I was confident in playing him.
Kog’Maw is a champion that has many weaknesses. He doesn’t have an escape skill for one thing.
Deft: All champions without escape skills have the same weakness, but if Kog’Maw can get through one crisis, all the enemies start to fall. In today’s match, there were situations where I wasn’t able to do that so that’s regretful.
You got your 1,000th kill today. How do you feel?
Deft: Before coming to today’s match, I thought that I could get my 1,000th kill against my former team, KT, but it’s a bummer that I didn’t get it off Smeb. (Laughs)
Did your teammates try to get you the kills because of that?
Deft: When we start the game, the most important thing is winning it. If my teammates did try to get me kills, it wasn’t because of the 1,000 kills, it was because I was the AD carry.
What happened with the Ryze ult in the enemy base?
PawN: It was an urgent situation, we were all a bit too excited. We thought that we would be able to destroy the twins and I said that I’ll bring the minions with my ult. However, I may not have been able to convey my intentions to my teammates so all five players got on the ult. It’s my fault.
Your next match is against Afreeca. What are your thoughts?
PawN: Afreeca’s mid laners are players that were in the same team as I am. Both were players that wouldn’t have been able to play on stage if I wasn’t sick. I’ll show who’s the boss here in that match.
Deft: They weren’t the same position as me… So I’ll just do my best so that we can win.
Can we expect unique picks like Kog’Maw?
Deft: If the chance comes, I can play any picks.
