On the 23rd, at the Seoul LoL Park, the 24th day of the 2019 LCK Spring Split took place. On the first series of the day, Kingzone DragonX defeated SANDBOX Gaming with a score of 2-0. In both games of the series, TusiN and Deft displayed stellar performance, having completely outshined their enemy bot lane.
The following is an interview with Kingzone's support player, TusiN.
Please tell us how you feel about your victory today.
We did make a number of mistakes in game 1, but we played according to what we had planned, and it worked out. I'm satisfied with today's results.
Kingzone looks stronger as a team after each passing game. What is causing this rise in power?
I think our players have held some grudges. Our top laner and jungler have little playing experience when compared to the rest of the team. As a result, they're trying their best to catch up and become good players. I think their efforts are showing well on stage.
In game 1, Kingzone had a strong early game but struggled to close out the game.
We were playing the game in a certain way, but that "way" wasn't the most optimal one to take to win. We needed to realize that earlier, but we weren't able to, and that gave SANDBOX time to scale and retaliate.
The synergy between you and Deft seems very strong. When comparing Deft to your previous bot lane partners, what is the biggest difference?
The experience. I believe League of Legends to be a very psychological game; you need to be able to read your opponent's every move. In that regard, Deft is a very good player.
What kind of calls went back and forth between you and Deft during today's series?
In game 1, we were at a disadvantage in the bot lane, as SB's bot lane composition was stronger than ours. But in game 2, we had the lane advantage. That's pretty much all we talked about. "We have the better picks, let's play to our champions' strengths and pressure them."
Do you think patch 7.3 played in Kingzone's favor?
Each and every professional team study new patches to find the most optimal way to play. To be frank, I'm not too sure if this patch favors us.
Are there any support picks that grew in power due to this patch?
Honestly, I don't think the support meta saw a large change this patch. Anything can be played right now.
As you mention it, we've seen a wide variety of support picks this split, such as Elise and Galio. Is there a surprise support pick that you're preparing yourself?
There is a number of surprise picks that I can play when a situation calls for it, but they're very niche picks, so it's highly unlikely that they'll see play.
The crit items were reverted to how they used to be this patch. As a support player yourself, do you prefer laning with auto-attack based ADC champions or caster ADC champions such as Ezreal?
Honestly, I don't mind laning with any type of champion, but I can say that I like laning with a bot laner who can play any type of champion.
Whenever Deft does an interview, he seems very shy and in a way... adorable? Is he like that off the stage as well?
At first, before I got to know him, I used to think: "is he really like that off the stage as well?" But now that I'm living with him, I found out that's simply his personality. He's like that off the stage as well.
Where do you think Kingzone will stand in the LCK Spring leaderboard once the regular season is over?
My personal goal is to finish either in 3rd or 4th place.
Is there anything you want to say to your fans?
Our team had gone through both a long losing streak and a winning streak this split. We're doing our best to iron out our flaws and become a more consistent team. Thank you for cheering for us.
