Gen.G succeeded in achieving their fourth consecutive championship by defeating T1 3-2 in the grand finals of the 2024 LCK Spring Split on Apr. 14. This record of four consecutive championships is the first in LCK history.
After narrowly winning Game 1 due to struggles against Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s super plays, Gen.G found themselves pushed to the brink by T1's onslaught in the subsequent Games 2 and 3. In the process, Moon “Oner” Hyeon-joon’s Xin Zhao emerged as a winning card, but instead of banning it, Gen.G opted to pick Kha’Zix for Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, a move that paid off and led them to victory in Game 4.
Heading into the decisive Game 5 with confidence, Gen.G demonstrated a relatively solid performance compared to the wavering T1, ultimately sealing the victory. Kim “Kiin” Gi-in disrupted the balance in the top lane with two solo kills, while Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon unleashed tremendous firepower with Corki. The bottom duo, which had not shown their full potential in the previous games, also contributed to the victory.
With this victory, Gen.G not only achieved the first-ever four consecutive championships in LCK but also secured their fourth consecutive victory against T1 in the finals. Since 2022 Spring, Gen.G maintained their dominance and pulled up their finals record against T1 to 4-2.
In addition, Chovy, who has been with Gen.G for the third year, became the only player to achieve the unique title of LCK 4-peat. He not only demonstrated excellent performance in the games they won but also consistently showcased his skills in the games they lost, proving why he has been at the center of the powerhouse Gen.G for three years straight.
Meanwhile, Kiin also achieved a unique record. He became the first player to finish in all ten ranks in the LCK — winning the championship was the last puzzle piece to achieve such a feat. Kiin was also named finals MVP through his spectacular performance throughout the series.
